As many of us remember, in July of 2013, The Laff House closed its doors on South St. in Philly, following the untimely death of Mona Millwood, the club's co-founder and spouse of co-founder “Mr. Rod” Millwood. Having run the city’s most influential comedy club since its inception in the late 90’s, she will be forever missed.
The Laff House is our family. Mona and Mr. Rod never had children together, so they took the comedians in as their own. As with any loving family, we wanted to give them an opportunity to be their best selves, comedically and individually. We created a place for our comics to work on their craft and love one another
Mr. Rod remembered the promise he made to Mona to reopen the club. So as a family we want to extend a warm embrace to all lovers of comedy, to our fellow comics and to our friends and family to welcome our rebirth after a long decade.
As the landscape of the country changes, comedy must grow and evolve with it. Mr. Rod is getting ready to open the doors for a new set of comedians to become this generation's Fresh Faces of Comedy.
